🚇 Siliguri–Jalpaiguri Metro Rail Feasibility Study Announced (Latest Update)

The Government of West Bengal has officially proposed a techno-economic feasibility study for introducing metro rail connectivity between Siliguri and Jalpaiguri, marking a major step toward improving urban transport in North Bengal.

According to the latest reports, the study will evaluate whether a metro-style rapid transit system can be developed across the Siliguri–Jalpaiguri urban corridor, one of the fastest-growing regions in eastern India.

The project is part of a broader plan to strengthen infrastructure in key business hubs like Siliguri, which already serves as the gateway to Darjeeling, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Northeast India.
