The Himalayan Centre of Presidency University at Dow Hill, Kurseong, is officially standing and preparing for its upcoming launch. Built as the university’s third campus with a state government investment of ₹74 crore, this highly anticipated facility is positioned to transform the Darjeeling hills into a premier academic hub.It is a special branch of the famous Presidency University in Kolkata.

The Presidency University Kurseong campus is located in a forest area called Dow Hill in Kurseong. Kurseong is a beautiful hill town in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India.

The campus is built high up in the mountains, surrounded by tall pine trees and nature. This quiet, peaceful setting was chosen to help students and teachers focus on research.

Height: It sits about 1,458 metres (4,864 feet) high up in the mountains.

Area: It is near the historic heritage schools and forest reserve of Dow Hill.

The Kurseong campus will operate differently from the traditional College Street branch. Instead of standard general streams, its curriculum is strictly designed around advanced research, specialized programs, and interdisciplinary studies leveraging the high-altitude environment:

1) Natural Sciences & Earth Systems : Focus areas include Himalayan Geology and tectonics, Himalayan ecology and biodiversity, and Climate Change monitoring.

2) Space Sciences: Specialized programs in Astrophysics and Space Sciences.

3)Life Sciences : Research fields covering Biotechnology.

4) Humanities & Governance: Undergraduate and postgraduate course tracks planned for the Department of Public Administration.
