Darjeeling is once again facing severe traffic congestion as tourist numbers rise sharply in the hill town. Residents and commuters say short distances are taking much longer than usual, creating problems for students, office-goers, patients, and local businesses.

Local residents say the jam is affecting daily life, especially for schoolchildren, office workers, patients, and commuters who rely on these roads every day. The situation has also raised concern about road capacity and the pressure placed on the narrow hill network during peak season.
